About Nicholas

Nicholas was born Wednesday June 4th, 2008 at 11:29 am at Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga, ON. He weighed 8 lbs, 12 ounces (which is just under 4 kilograms) and measured 54 centimeters long. The people at his birth were Mom, Dad, and some very nice and helpful doctors and nurses. He was born with reddish brown hair and blond eyebrows, as well as slate blue eyes.

Nick's first visitors were Greg, Andrew [Singer], and Jen-Jen. He left the hospital when he was 26 hours old.

Nick was originally due to arrive June 15th, so his parents weren't entirely prepared. After leaving the hospital, they promptly brought him shopping at Zellers and CostCo to pick up the final loose ends they had meant to pick up before he was born. Oops! Everybody thought we were crazy to bring our 26 hour old son shopping already. He survived, so was it really that bad?

Following his arrival, there were many visitors: Aunt Lisa, Uncle Blah, Aunt Nathalie, Erin and Brian, Fred and Sophie, Greg, Gramps, Grandma, Great Aunt Lucy and Great Uncle Rolly, Ryan and Agata, and all the neighbours: Rob, Cindy, George, Maria, Michelle, Meghan, and Andrew [Payton]. 5 weeks after Nicholas, Meghan's son Carson was born. Good to have a friend just a few doors down!

We received beautiful gifts from many people, including: Gramps and Grandma, Lucy and Rolly, Brian and Erin, Fred and Sophie, Greg and his mom Debby, Lisa, Blah, Nathalie, Mel, everybody at Dad's office, the Shaws, the Erlandsons, Wykes, Piller, and Kearns families (all cousins!), Mom's friend Julia, Sam and her Mother, Mark and Nicole and Nate, Christine and Michael, Great Grandma Laura and Joby, Meghan and Andrew, Rob and Cindy, and George and Maria. Mom and Dad didn't need to buy any baby clothing for 3 whole months!

On the day Nicholas was born, milk cost $3.98 for 4 litres, gas was 125.4 cents per litre, and a postage stamp cost 51 cents. The Red Wings won the Stanley Cup, and Stephen Harper was regrettably our Prime Minister.

Everyday, Nicholas grows and becomes more of a Little Man, and less of a Parasite like Mom called him before he was born. He is a beautiful, wonderful, and happy baby, and we hope he stays that way. Great Aunt Lucy says fat chance, but we can always hope.
