Firsts

First bath: June 4th 2008 at Trillium Health Center with the nice Nurse and Daddy. He had his first home bath on June 5th in the little tub within the big tub with Daddy. He was pretty cool with the bath until he actually went into the bath. Nick's favourite bathtime game seems to be to pee on Dad. A fine game, I must say.

First big boy bath: December 3rd, 2008. He likes to push himself up and down in the tub, waving his arms and legs wildly. Good times!

First bed: The cradle at the foot of Mom and Dad's bed. He "slept" there for about a month until Great Aunt Lucy discovered that the only way the child would sleep was when he was on his tummy. He moved into the crib at the beginning of July because Mom was getting absolutely no sleep with a talking baby at her feet every night.

First time Nick slept through the night: July 21st. Mom thought he had died because he didn't wake up in the middle of the night for feeding. He slept 7 hours that night, and mom really appreciated it AFTER having her heart attack and realizing he was okay.

First time Nick lifted his head: June 4th, 2008. Seriously. He lifted his head that early. It took several months to gain control of it, but from the start, Nick has been a very alert little monkey.

First time rolling over: Nick was about 2 1/2 months old. He rolled over while Daddy left the room, and Mom screamed, OH MY GOD! ALEX! HE ROLLED! HE ROLLED! Daddy came screaming down the stairs, terrified, because he thought was Mom was screaming because of an accident. He thought Mom dropped Nicholas down the stairs. Nope! He just rolled. he later rolled several more times somewhere around the three month mark.
Rolling back to front: December 2nd, 2008. He was trying to look over his shoulder and decided to roll instead. He wasn't too pleased to be on his tummy after he rolled. He did it after that, too, so I don't think it was an accident.

First Rice Cereal: November 8th, 2008. It was too runny, and Nick kept screaming because we couldn't feed it to him fast or efficiently enough. The second feeding went a lot better, and by December, he is wolfing it down and wanting MORE MORE MORE!

First smile: June 24th -- and it wasn't gas.

First noises: Grunting, snorting, and saying "Ah-Goo"

First Peek-a-boo: 2 1/2 months old. It only lasted a few seconds before he was distracted.

First Outing: Shopping at CostCo and Zellers for diapers and other assorted emergency OMG WE HAVE A BABY NOW things.

First Swim: June 22nd at Earl Rowe Provincial Park in the lake. He was NOT impressed.

First Party: Fred and Sophie had a potluck. We brought Nick.
